Kathy Hutson's story is in the Summer 2011 edition of Vanderbilt Magazine
Kathy Hutson MS, grew up in South Bend, Indiana and earned her undergraduate degree in Speech Therapy from St. Louis University before working on her Master's at Vanderbilt. She spent her career working in Appalachia. In 1999 she moved to Abingdon, Virginia to help develop ElderSpirit Community, which opened in 2006. Hutson lives at ElderSpirit and is a leader in committee work and spiritual and cultural events at ElderSpirit, in her church and in the wider neighborhood.
